Earth Day is April 22nd. While we were not able to gather on April 25th and celebrate at our Eel Pond viewing platform, or socialize as we cleaned our local roads with groups of friends, and Parks & Rec could not provide bags, gloves or a dumpster this time. But we still made an effort to help the planet.
How? With a DIY, social-distancing Town Clean-Up! Between Wednesday 4/22 (Earth Day) and Sunday 4/26, when you go out for your daily stroll, don’t just walk… #WalkWithPurpose! Throw a pair of gloves and a trash bag in your pocket, and prevent litter from polluting our landscapes and waterways. Be sure to stay safe by following these social distancing guidelines: https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/State-Parks/COVID-19-Updates-CT-State-Parks-and-Forests
The Connecticut Land Conservation Council is urging conservation organizations across the state to #WalkWithPurpose. They even want to see photos of the weirdest litter you come across. We once cleaned up a 1970s transistor radio!
Let us know where you went and what you cleaned up…and thank you!
